O escroto é uma bolsa de pele fina e sensível, cuja função é proteger os testículos e mantê-los a uma temperatura ligeiramente inferior (cerca de 2°C) à do resto do corpo. Quando a temperatura está muito baixa, o escroto encolhe-se e aproxima-se mais do corpo de forma a proporcionar mais calor aos testículos. Ou seja... estava muito calor quando tirei esta foto!

The function of the scrotum appears to be to keep the testis at a temperature slightly lower than that of the rest of the body. For the human, a temperature should be one or two degrees celcius below the body temperature. Higher temperatures may be damaging to sperm count. The temperature is controlled by moving the testicles closer to the abdomen when it is cold, and away when hot. Meaning... it was really hot when I took this photo!
